Stasha Ginsburg
Storyteller ~ Wisdom Keeper ~ Author ~ Wise Woman
Hey y’all! This is me, Stasha Ginsburg, creator of The Wild Matryoshka. A matryoshka is a nesting doll, traditional to Russia and Ukraine. I was a Slavic studies major for undergraduate degree (music minor) and I spent my junior year abroad in Moscow 1992-1993 during the revolution from communism to democracy. I went seeking an understanding of the elusive and mythopoetic Slavic Soul.
Stories have always been important to me. My dad was unfortunately a terrible dad and a really bad conman (he died in prison, unbeknownst to me when I was 10, for insurance fraud) but, when I saw him before his prison time (and it was not often) he spun a great yarn. He inspired my love of story. His death was my first big experience of a painful story. Learning that he died in prison gave me a burning desire for freedom. That word can be understood from many different points of view. The word freedom has been my inner flame propelling me to understand what it means to be a human being, my place in the world, my stories, and how I relate to them. Being caught by a story is one of the more challenging things I have experienced and witnessed. And it is often Story- the mythopoetic kind, that has helped me to make sense of and move on and through some of the more difficult stories I have navigated.
I have an MA in Transformative Language Arts thru Goddard College. I believe writing, storytelling, story making and speaking our stories can 100 percent change the world. Inside and out.
I’ve been studying stories and telling stories for many many years. I am a Waldorf teacher and am about to cocreate a visionary program for first and second grade children (and their families) in Boulder, CO this fall.
I am also a song leader, (w)rites of passage facilitator, lover of nature and five rhythms dance and mother to a teen girl and two amazing sister cats. I’m offering a new writes of passage/memoir and mythopoetic story intensive beginning May 5. Crack Open the Story. I’m looking for 12 more women to join me for a deep dive into personal and mythopoetic stories, writes of passage and transformation.
